A man that inspired hundreds

Afroz Shah, an young Indian lawyer from Mumbai is synonymous with the world’s largest beach clean-up project. Shah had started manually cleaning the ‘Versova beach’ in 2015. The “Clean Up Versova” drive in mumbai gradually evolved into one of the largest beach cleanups in the world, it was a reward in itself. He has been conferred with Champion of the Earth award, UN’s top award recognising outstanding leaders who have striven to lead a positive impact on the environment.

Shah’s effort and the hundreds of volunteers he inspired, is a great example of citizen action and reminds the rest of the world that the most ambitious, global agreements are only as the individual action and determination that bring them life.
