You will bring them and plant them in the mountain of Your inheritance, The place, O Lord, which You have made for Your dwelling, The sanctuary, O Lord, which Your hands have established. Exodus 15:17

Shortly after we got Addie we moved to a new apartment. There was a trail nearby that we followed one day and near the end of it was a wooden bench that someone had built outside their property near a small pond. For a about a month, I would wake up early and walk with Addie to the bench and we’d sit there. Then we’d turn around and head home. It wasn’t anything amazing but it was our time and our place. She’d sit near the bench or wander down near the edge of the water. On occasion I’d bring a small snack for her or share some granola bar with her once we got there. Those moments were constructed distinctly for us.

God gives us times and places made specifically for us. I’m sure that God knew we’d be there and built those mornings for me and my dog. Since those mornings I’ve tried to be more aware of the special places that God has prepared for me. Even in hardships He knew you would be there and knew you he had given you the strength to grow from things that others might not make it through. Before time began he knew your home, where you’d work, the people who would be in your life.

Dear God,

You take me to places no one else can. You lead me to rest and peace and joy.
