Chapter 1 : The Beginning

I don’t quite know where to start. Everything I’ve learned in writing has taught me the importance of a catchy opening; entice the reader in your first few sentences, and they’ll read till the end. But to get you to read till the end, I need to get you to read the beginning.

So here is my beginning. I just turned 27 last week, and yet somehow, I feel like my life has just started. Why? Well a couple of reasons.

First, I came out three weeks ago.

Second, I was finally, by a medical professional, diagnosed with a severe anxiety disorder and major depression.

Third, I made a decision to live.

And now, just writing that, my self-defense mechanisms are closing me off from continuing to share my thoughts.

So remember, I’m not trying to get you to read till the end, I just want you to join me for the beginning.
