Malala: US justification for “war on terror”
On 9th October 2012, 15 years of Malala and her two friends were attacked in Sabath Valley, than within few hours this news became the biggest news story of the world and it seemed as if this attack was not carried out on Malala rather the US president was attacked. As the report on attack of Malala surfaced, the US president Barack Obama condemned the attack and said that America was for every possible help for the treatment of Malala. This reaction shows that US president is so free that he is just round the corner to condemned the attack on three girls in Pakistan. This is the same president who has refuse to even say sorry when many innocent civilians killed by the US military on it so called “war on terror”. Is wounded Malala more valuable than those thousands of civilians?
United nation is an international organization and it has several task to perform on daily basis. Thousands of people become victim of criminal activity around the world daily, but the UN secretary general Ban Ki-Moon never took noticed of those innocent life. He does not have time to take notice of serious issue like Israel-Palestine conflict, however as the attack is carried out on Malala, Ban Ki-Moon becomes active, he condemned the attack and said he was so inspired by Malala’s campaign for right of education, especially girls education. He seems to be familiar with her campaign for several years and had been observing with keen eyes.
The US secretary of states, Hillary Clinton has also decried the attack on Malala and has termed it as awful. Former US president George W. Bush’s wife Laura Bush became so stirred that she wrote a full length essay on the incident on the Washington post saying that Malala was not only a source of inspiration for her but the whole world was inspired as well. How much was she inspired by numerous innocent victim of “war on terror” around the world. She should have wrote an encyclopedia by now from the death of thousands of innocent people due to the US. Famous US singer Madonna too has deep observation on Malala that as soon as Malala was attacked, she got to know about it and even got Malala tattoo and dedicated a song to her struggle.
The attack on Malala even shocked the Military and civilian leadership of Pakistan, the army chief general, Ataul Gani Osmani was so moved over the grief of Malala, that he himself visited the hospital to enquire her health. Thousands of innocent children fall victims to drone attacks but Osmani has never paid visits to their home or never bothered to write a single condolence letter.
Interestingly these people completely forgot about the other two girls who were also injured in the same incident when Malala was attacked.
Malala was attacked on October 9, the interior minister of pakistan said on October 12, that Taliban in North Waziristan are so notorious that they do not deserve dialog. On October 13th, a report surfaced that final decision of military operation in North Waziristan has been taken on behest of US.
It is said that Malala was symbol of girls education in Pakistan. But dozens of intellectuals, journalist can be name dropped who had dedicated their life for the promotion of education in Pakistan. But they were killed by unknown assailants and their death did not even made headline in newspapers. Does this difference compel the conscious minds to think something?
It could be the influence of TV shows like “Scandal” and “House of cards” which got me thinking about this but the way the events progress I am really suspicious about the way it was reported. US is desperate to justify billions of dollar invested in “war on terror”. Using Malala as a poster child was a nicely executed operation.
Don’t be confused, I have no problem with Malala, I really like her. I like the way how she is leveraging her recognition to betterment of education of girls not only in Pakistan but around the world. She even won the Nobel Peace prize, good for her.
However we can not forget how this all fiasco was well planned operation and Malala Yousafzai was merely a US propaganda to justify its “war on terror”.
