Hi all! Seeing as I’m a newbie to this site, I’m still trying to figure everything out! I want to write about things that pop up in my mind that I may have opinions about, but am also interested in what others have to say about certain topics! So, I figured I’d get the ball rolling on writing since that’s what I want to do here! So, let the first topic commence!

So I’m sure as many of you know, the live version of Grease premiered this past Sunday. I myself had enjoyed it immensly. So, after seeing it and hearing nothing but raving reviews about it, I was surprised when an article surfaced on Facebook about the things that were “not quite right” with the production.
I began reading the article and a lot of the commentary had to do with the fact that even though Fox had been trying to adhere to the masses of TODAY’S political correct world, it seems as though they still had faultered. The point was made up about the song “Grease Lightning” that some of the lyrics were changed from “the chicks will cream” to, “the chicks will scream, ” as changing words like “pussy wagon” to “dragon wagon, and “lacy lingerie” to “wedding bouquet” in one of the numbers. During the time that this film was released, the words might not have mattered as much as they do today, but I was shocked to see just how livid people were about the suggestive nature of these words.
The big hubub came in when people realized that the one line in “Summer Lovin’” that goes, “did she put up a fight?” was still included in the casts performance even after the directors and producers had tried to remove a lot of the “crude” and inapproriate suggestive language that spawned from the movie.
There are other issues that people are pointing out in this article that I will not get into, but I felt as though the producers and directors of this show really wanted to appease the public by going to the lengths of changing the original words of songs to make it more appropriate and culturally accepted.
Also, I find it amazing that not even 24 hours later, people are able to pick the performance apart and fight for political correctness when this was honestly not even a thought on my mind while watching it.
What do YOU think about the live action Grease performance? Was it still too “risky” for the public? Was it ignorant and naive to the current world we live in? Was it enjoyable? Or was it all of these things combined?!
LET ME KNOW! I would love to hear people’s reaction to the show! The article I am referencing is linked:
