Is Mercury in Retrograde?

YES. When in doubt, check here: http://www.ismercuryinretrograde.com/.

According to multiple websites—none of which are solid sources—when mercury is in retrograde it looks like it’s moving backwards across the sky causing “communication” issues here on earth.

Brain fuzziness is one of the symptoms of Mercury in retrograde, which makes total sense because yesterday my husband and I both agreed that we felt weird or “off.” We couldn’t explain why.

He came home from work at around 6:30 PM and we sat on the couch, staring off into space until I broke the silence.

“Do you want to go to Taco Bell?”

His face lit up. “Yup.”

Our uneaten HelloFresh meals would have to wait.

We made our way to the car, moving like molasses. Me wearing an old Kappa t-shirt and shorts that I’ve had since the 8th grade. Hair askew. My traditional “Who cares? It’s Florida!” look.

We drove part of the way in silence, but then started wondering why we felt so “blah.” I googled “Is Mercury in retrograde?” And sure enough, it is until September 22nd!

Jay talked about work—he wakes up at 4:45 AM and is always the last to leave at the end of the day. His job is particularly demanding because he has to be available 24/7, which would probably be draining for anyone.

I talked about doubt and how, when something happens, I always second guess my actions after the fact, which causes me to wormhole into crazy conclusions like “well obviously I suck.” I’m 26. Is there ever a time in life where you wake up and you’re like “I’m right, screw you guys, you’re wrong. Bye?!”

We agreed that we’re both wired similarly in that our thoughts tend to narrow when we make a mistake. We think about it for the rest of the day and ask a million questions, leaving us feeling drained and directionless. We decided to blame it on Mercury, which seems legit.

Luckily, Taco Bell and Stranger Things on Netflix were the cure-alls. I ate my crunch wrap supreme on the way home, finishing it even before we pulled into our parking spot; a feat that always amazes Jay.

Don’t worry, I still had my Doritos Locos Tacos left to eat in the bag. The heartburn was worth it. #TreatYourselfTuesday
