The Department’s ability to process visas was reduced as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and many of our embassies and consulates occasionally had to provide emergency services. The U.S. Mission in India has made it a priority to facilitate legal travel and will decide over 800,000 non immigrant visa applications in 2022 as a result of the lifting of travel restrictions.
