Curation Tools You Should Use!

The process of content curation is the act of sorting through large amounts of content on the web and presenting the best and most relevant posts/information in a meaningful and organised way on an RSS feed( short for Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary). Here are a few of the best and worst curation tools.

1. Feedly

Feedly compiles news stories from a variety of online sources for the user share with others. One of the best things about this tool is it’s minimalist design which makes it easy for anyone to use. It’s fairly easy to personalise too. Feedly is by far one of the most popular curation tools, due to Google closing down Google Reader, many users transferred over to Feedly, saying it was the easiest to use and most similar to google reader.

2. Pinterest

Pinterest is my personal favourite curation tool. It allows you to bookmark pages you find online into your own personal scrap book, as well as finding other pins (posts) by other users that you want to save. Pinterest also sends regular updates via email/ app notifications of posts relevant or similar to your own account or topics you have searched for, which means you don’t have to work very hard to find information yourself as Pinterest does it for you.

3. Flipboard

Flipboard is extremely well organised, easy to navigate and personalise. The navigation bar at the top of the page consists of all your topics of interest and each topic page consists of all the relevant news stories, tweets and images. This may be the best curation tool for beginners as the app is just as easy to use as the website, both of which are very straight forward.

Until next time :)
