New Medical Alert Systems Share Data and Offer Early Warning Alerts

Over the past decades, medical alert systems have earned their reputation as a proven technology that enables seniors living on their own to stay safe in their own homes. By pressing on their help button, seniors are able to easily get the help they need when emergencies happen at home.
With advancements in technology, newer systems enable the sharing of additional information and offer inconspicuous background monitoring. These additional monitoring features uncover potential problems or highlight issues to caregivers that would otherwise be missed in a traditional medical alert set-up.
Understandably, children with elderly parents who are living on their own independently often worry about their safety. Here are two systems will provide additional help.
Bay Alarm Medical’s GPS Mobile Alert with Caregiver Tracking

First off, this is a mobile medical alert system that works everywhere cellular phone signals are strong. The senior user can bring it along with them when they leave their homes. If you are interested, I’ve shared how mobile medical alert devices are helpful to seniors in a previous Medium post.
What’s great about the mobile medical alert by Bay Alarm Medical is that it provides the option to access a Caregiver Tracking Portal online. This supplementary service allows you to look into the GPS information of the mobile device, and by proxy, get an idea of where their senior parent could be at. This tracking works provided the senior has the charged-up Bay Alarm Medical mobile device on him or her.

Authorized users can access an online dashboard by using their password to see their elderly parent’s most recent location and a history of locations. The info is part of the GPS data that the mobile medical alert system transmits.
The system also includes the ability to set geo-fencing triggers. Triggers are established for the system to issue email or text alerts when the senior wearing the device leaves a predefined area.
Family Guardian by Medical Guardian
Family Guardian is an expanded in-home medical alert system that includes the standard base console unit and multiple satellite sensors that can be placed around the home. The elderly system user gets a personal medical alert in the form of a light-weight and water-resistant wristband or necklace, and a base console which features an emergency call button.
That part of the system works just like a standard medical alert system. When your loved one needs immediate assistance, he/she simply presses on their alert button. An alarm call via a landline connection is immediately activated.
Multiple Sensors to Monitor Activities
Aside from getting emergency calls, you may also want to keep tabs on what your loved one is doing, including any deviations from normal activities. Such departures from the norm may suggest that something is wrong.
For example, you know that your mom usually goes to the kitchen by noon to prepare or take her meal. If she fails to do so, you may want to give her a call to find out if she is feeling unwell.
Family Guardian shares data for as many as fifteen different situations, such as “Wake and Well” and “Dining Time.”
The activity sensors direct the data through to the cloud servers of Medical Guardian which then transmit the information to your computer, handheld device or cellular phone — and to those of other authorized persons like caregivers and other members of the family.
The system’s mobile apps are available for both iPhone or Android platforms.
