Medipedia was a proud attendee of the 2018 RISE conference, the biggest startup conference in Asia, which was held in Hong Kong from July 9th to 12th. The technology conference also witnessed participation from many of the leading tech experts from companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Tinder, etc.
The Medipedia team of delegations, including the CEO Taeyong Kim and CFO Lucas Kim, attended the event as featured attendees and also spoke at various occasions. The team also had the pleasure of speaking at PITCH, giving interviews, and promoting the project at a dedicated booth while building an amazing network of wonderful tech contacts.
Medipedia CEO & Co-Founder Taeyong Kim took the pleasure of presenting the Medipedia project at PITCH, which is the startup battle programme at RISE conference 2018 and aims to sort out the best and most innovative startup of the year. During his presentation, Mr Kim introduced Medipedia as a new ecosystem of healthcare and a medical assistance platform that is based on the blockchain.
The main function of Medipedia is Matching and Consultation System which has been developed primarily to help consumers seeking medical assistance in a foreign country. Medical consumers can post their queries on the Medipedia platform in order to gain access to all the medical institutions who provide the particular service in a particular foreign country. The platform also lets users communicate with medical institutions and doctors and get a free consultation in order to make the best and honest selection of healthcare services. The Medipedia platform makes use of smart contracts feature of the blockchain to securely store all the records of user conversations and transactions within this ecosystem.
The aim of Medipedia, as CEO clarifies, is to tear down the agent system that dominates the medical service world and replace it with a more consumer-friendly healthcare system. Taeyong also talked about the two tokens, MEP (Medipedia Points) and MPR (Medipedia Rewards Points), that exist on the Medipedia platform and provide users with a secure way of performing transactions within the platform.
Lucas Kim, CFO of Medipedia, also took the opportunity to speak with a representative of BeachCity, which is an Australia based entrepreneurial media company, during the RISE 2018 tech conference. Lucas introduced Medipedia as a blockchain based medical tourism company where patients can directly connect with doctors in foreign countries. Mr Kim further highlights the problems, such as lack of quality healthcare services and trust issues, with which our medical industry has been struggling. Medipedia utilizes the blockchain platform in order to introduce transparency in the medical ecosystem.
The Medipedia smart contracts will secure all the conversations and transactions that take place on the platform to ensure that patients get honest and top-quality services and can claim if they do not get what is promised by the doctors. The information on the Medipedia blockchain will be public and can only be accessed with proper authorisation. As of now, the platform provides services like free medical consultancy, medical checkup, etc to foreign consumers.
The Medipedia team also had their own booth at the RISE conference through which they were providing information and assistance to interested parties and connecting with potential investors. This was a wonderful occasion which we enjoyed immensely while learning a lot from fellow entrepreneurs and startups.
