Which is Better — Laser Lipo or Cryo Lipo?
Here at Med Spa Colleyville, Tx, our patients ask us almost every day about the best ways to lose fat quickly. One of the most common questions we get is whether you should get laser lipo or cryo lipo for better results. Like most things involving fat loss, the answer isn’t quite as simple as you might think.
First of all, to understand how one treatment might be better for you than another, you should first understand how each one works. With laser lipo, a laser is focused on fat cells, and its heat actually bursts them. They then break apart and are flushed away by your body. With cryolipolysis (also known as “cryo lipo”), the affected area is actually suctioned into a device that then chills it, usually for about an hour. The fat cells in that area then undergo a sort of slow death and are eventually carried away by the body, as well. If you’ve heard of Coolsculpting, this is a form of cryolipolisis that works to freeze fat cells and give you a slimmer look.
So which one is the better treatment for you? Some patients have reported that cryo lipo is a more comfortable process, as it involves nothing more than chilling the affected area instead of basically burning fat cells with a laser. However, with laser lipo, the procedure is faster and tends to show results more quickly than the “slow death” cryo method.
That said, some patients claim to have had better success with cryo lipo on larger cellulite deposits while having better luck with laser lipo on smaller problem areas. Basically, both of these treatments are highly effective, but which one is better for you will depend a great deal on your goals, the sensitivity of your skin, and your preferences. If you have several small cellulite patches, you may find that you prefer laser lipo, while cryo lipo may be better for you if you have larger deposits. However, this is not always the case.
