THE HUSBAND WHOM DRAUPADI LOVED THE MOST !

Arjuna won the archery competition organised by King Drupad and consequently, the most coveted award– Draupadi as bride,was bestowed upon Arjuna.However,as fate had other plans,Mata Kunti unknowingly directed her sons to divide the ‘alms’ of that day equally among all the brothers,which ultimately culminated into Draupadi’s marriage with all the five pandavas,only to curb the scene of potential unrest smong the Pandavas! And anyone could expect that out of all the five husbands,Arjuna was adored the most by Draupadi. However,it was not so.Whenever Draupadi faced any kind of physical,or emotional issues,neither Arjuna nor other Pandavas came to her rescue,except one.It was the second Pandava Bheemsen,despite the fact that,he was already married to Hidimba!Still,he proved to be a doting husband and the best one among all the other Pandavas.
1.BHEEMSEN’S REACTION AT CHEER-HARAN OF DRAUPADI —
At the time of Cheer-Haran of Draupadi by Dushasana,the most significant event in the history,when Draupadi was molested in the royal court,none of her husbands had the guts to protest,except Bheemsen.This was really something very unusual !
2. FULFILLMENT OF PROMISE MADE TO HIMSELF & DRAUPADI —To avenge this serious sin committed by Dushasana,Bheemsen had vowed to rupture Duryodhana’s thighs & kill Dushasana in Mahabharata & quaff his blood to avenge the public molestation of his wife Draupadi and he actually did it.He brutally broke Duryodhana’s thighs with his mace & ripped apart Dushasana’s chest to quaaf the blood.He also fulfilled Draupadi’s vow to keep her hair open,till she did not wash them with Dushasana’s blood.
3. BHEEM’S SENTIMENTS FOR DRAUPADI-To fulfil Draupadi’s demands,Bheemsen could go to any extent.Once,while being in exile,Draupadi happened to see an exotic flower,which was Lord Brahma’s lotus.She demanded that divine flower Brahmakamal from Bheem.He went all the way to Gandhmadan Hill in search of that rare flower Brahmakamal and it was here,that he met Lord Hanuman! His effort to fetch that rarest of the rare divine object,just to please his wife and make her happy is enough support to prove his profound love for Draupadi.
4. CHASTISING JAYDRATH FOR MOLESTING DRAUPADI– When Jaydratha abducted Draupadi,no other Pandava except Bheem got enraged at Jaydrath.After dragging,banging him against the ground & kicking,as Bheemsen was almost on the verge of killing Jaydrath,Arjuna refrained him from doing this, by reminding him of Yudhishthira’s words,as otherwise it would have rendered their sister(cousin) Dushala widow! However,Bheemsen shaved his head,leaving five tufts.When brought to Draupadi,she asked Bheem to release Jaydrath.Here also,only Bheem avenged Jayadrath’s attempt to outrage the modesty of his sister-in-law Draupadi.
5. AVENGING OUTRAGE OF DRAUPADI’S MODESTY BY KILLING KEECHAK —
In yet another incident,when Pandavas were supposed to spend one year in anonymity, they went to Viratnagri – the kingdom of King Virata.The Pandavas disguised themselves as various helpers to conceal their identities. Draupadi was disguised as Sairandhri,the maid of Queen Sudeshna of Viratnagri. The brother of Queen Sudeshna named Keechak got lustful towards Draupadi’s ravishing beauty.His attempt to outrage Draupadi’s modesty led Bheem to kill him.
6. ENDEAVOURING WITH ALL HIS MIGHT TO SAVE DRAUPADI FROM THE CLUTCHES OF DEATH–
At the time of ascension to Himalayas, while all the Pandavas and their wife Draupadi were treading along the snow capped tough terrains,Draupadi fell into a deep ditch.As she yelled for help,no other husband except Bheemsen came to her rescue. He tried to hold her hand to save her,but his effort proved futile.She said to Bheemsen,“If ever I get a rebirth,I would like to be born as your wife!” With these words,she got buried in the snow.
