Yeah it’s something I’m not sure about either. I totally agree that this is what product managers do, in fact this is part of where this thinking has come from.
I feel like product management and UX are part of the same discipline — in face I kind of want them to be both part of UX, and we have UX feasibility specialists, UX planning and sequencing specialists, etc.
The main reason why I think this work is part of UX is because UX decisions need to take all this stuff into account — even down to the sequencing of work. It’s important to be able to see the whole picture, and I feel like product managers and UX being separate means that UX doesn’t see the whole picture a lot of the time.
