CATIA is one of the most popular and powerful design software developed by Dassault Systemes. Catia software is widely used in the field of 3D designs, engineering solutions and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM/CAE), computer-aided manufacturing methods and product production cycle management.
(PLM) is used.
This software is generally used in manufacturing and original parts manufacturing (OEM) industries to speed up the process of designing, analyzing and managing products, as well as to help engineers in industrial design processes.
CATIA software provides an integrated platform for users so that they can foster creativity and innovation, share technical knowledge in processes, establish a direct connection between the virtual 3D design and the real product, and reduce design and manufacturing cycles. And… get a realistic 3D design of the desired product much faster and easier.
In this article, we introduce Katya software and its features, common versions, installation steps, user interface, environments, learning resources and advantages of Katya compared to other software, etc.; So stay with us until the end of this article.

Introduction of CATIA software

This three-dimensional computer-aided interactive software or CATIA, which stands for Computer Aided Three-dimensional Interactive Application, is a computer-aided design, engineering, analysis, manufacturing and production (CAD/CAM/CAE) software.
With modeling environments, surfaces, machining, finite element analysis and mechanisms design and analysis environment, Catia is considered a very comprehensive design, analysis and production software.
With CATIA software, you can create a proper, complete and powerful integration between human resources, tools, methods and resources of design, engineering and construction in one process and in this way witness results such as reducing design and production time, reducing errors in design , design optimization, increase product quality and increase profitability.
Due to having various views in the design stage, Catia software improves the product design and user experience, and also the default tools of various sections are strengthened during the product development process.
Catia has a 3D design space with the possibility of online sharing of product designs and enables collaboration in the field of modeling and allows users to easily transfer their project from one workspace to another. Therefore, it provides the best services to creative and industrial designers, system architects and mechanical engineers.

History of Catia software

CATIA software was designed and built in the 1970s as an internal software for the development of Mirage fighter planes. After that, they used this program for other means of transportation in various industries such as aerospace, automobile or shipbuilding and marine industries. From its creation until today, the Dassault Systems development team continued to innovate and improve the functionality of this software until they reached the latest version of CATIA (V5–6R2016).
During the cooperation of Dassault Systèmes with large industrial companies, they realized the great interest of industries in having software with the ability to manage all stages of manufacturing and production of products. Then, relying on this thinking, DS company made its software solutions more powerful so that it could succeed in creating digital replicas.
In 2004, the Falcon 7x aircraft was designed as the first aircraft created with the Catia software virtual platform, without drawing a line on paper for its design.

Also, the Boeing Boeing 787 airplane project, using the new methods provided by DS in digital models, went through the stages of design, construction and assembly and reached successful production.

Applications of Catia software

The powerful and accurate tools of Catia software have made it the best option for designing the body of airplanes and cars.

Of course, the applications of Catia software are not limited to the aircraft and automobile industries, and in addition to being used in the aerospace and automotive industries, in many different fields such as assembly industries, military industries, mold making, marine equipment, household appliance manufacturing industries, electrical, Electronics, mechanical engineering, architecture and civil engineering are used for two-dimensional and three-dimensional design of parts and equipment.

Among the big companies that use Katya in their product designs and production process, the following can be mentioned:
Boeing, Volvo Trucks, Audi, Ford, Bosch, Toyota Motorsport, Nissan diesel motor, BMW

One of the most famous recent structures designed by CATIA software is the Pigeon’s Nest Stadium, which was used in the Beijing Olympics. All stages of design, simulation, analysis and calculations of this stadium were done by Catia software.

Features of CATIA software

Part Design work desk

Users can design precise 3D mechanical parts using the desktop environment of Catia software. From assembly design to detailed design, the Part Design program accommodates most design needs.

Assembly modeling

The Assembly Design workbench provides users with the ability to collaborate with Part Design and Generative Drafting programs in scalable design projects. Various visual tools have also provided the possibility of 3D navigation.
