Mexico, 2016’s Number 1 Destination — Meetrip

When we hear the word “Mexico” first things that come to mind are beaches, parties, tequila and sombreros … but the country has so much more to offer than just these stereotypes. Mexico has more than 50 fabulous tourist destinations to discover: villages, must-see archaeological sights, a deep and fascinating history, and a rich culture which has been passed down from generation to generation. There are the things which truly form the Mexican identity.

If you would like to make a trip to Mexico, but don’t know the best places to go, we have made a list of the 5 places that will show you the best this beautiful country has to offer.

The №1 position has to go to the country’s capital: Mexico City. It is the centre point around which decisions are made. We recommend you take a walk through the city’s historical Coyoacan centre, travel in trajineras over lake Xochimilco, and grab a bite to eat in the Condesa area.

In a close second: the state of Jalisco where you can visit the magical city Guadalajara. The region is affectionately known as “la perla tapatía”. This town of tequila is probably the best place to taste Mexico’s national drink and it is a great city to walk around.

At №3 we have chosen the state of Nuevo Leon which shares its border directly with the United States. It is here you find the important city of Monterrey, the country’s third largest city. It is famous for its hill-shaped saddle horse which has given it its name “Cerro de la Silla”.

Fourth, the state of Quintana Roo which is known for its collection of beautiful beaches, archaeological sites and world famous resorts such as Cancun, Isla Women, Cozumel, Tulum and Playa del Carmen

In fifth, the state of Guerrero is still definitely worth a visit. It has the historic and tourist port Acapulco, the luxury development in Zihuatanejo and Taxco, an area well known for its high production silver.

We hope this has given you the inspiration to visit Mexico and to immerse yourself in the varied cultures which this wonderful country has to offer to all its tourists.
