CLAT 2017: Eligibility, Syllabus, Seats, Ranks, Exam Center, Exam Pattern

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), is an all India entrance examination, conducted on rotation by 17 National Law Universities (NLUs) for admissions to their Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate degree programmes The 17 participating NLUs in the order of their year of establishment are:

CLAT (2017) Eligibility

Candidates should have passed Higher Secondary School/Intermediate Examination (10+2) or its equivalent examination with not less than 45% marks in aggregate (40% in case of SC/ST and persons with Disability).

There is no age bar for appearing in CLAT

Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination can also appear provisionally. However, they shall have to produce proof of having passed the qualifying examination before or at the time of admission with detailed mark sheet.Candidate with compartment/supplementary in any subject in the qualifying examination will not be eligible for admission.

CLAT 2017 Exam Pattern·

  1. Total Questions — 200·
  2. Total Marks — 200 ( Each question carries 1 mark)·
  3. Exam Duration — 2 Hours ( 120 minutes)·
  4. Marking Scheme — While each correct answer will be awarded one mark, for every incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted from the total scored marks following a system of negative marking. (1/4th Negative)·
  5. Exam Mode — The Law Entrance will be conducted in an online mode·
  6. Exam Venues — The law exam for after Class 12 will be conducted in a number of cities across India.Last year, the law entrance was conducted in as many as 173 exam centers of 52 cities of India, which included 7 cities of Uttar Pradesh, Amritsar, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad Imphal, Jodhpur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, Ranchi and Vishakhapatnam.·
