Why Antonio Salieri never murdered Mozart

Antonio Salieri may be unknown among most people now, but in his day, he was one of the biggest composers in Vienna, Austria. The few people who do know about him may think of him as a murderer who became overwhelmed by jealousy to kill Mozart. These claims couldn’t be farther from the truth. In this article I will outline why Antonio Salieri never killed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Despite what people claim, it is unlikely that Salieri ever had anything to do with Mozart’s early death. It is proven that Mozart had a repeated history of illnesses throughout his life. He was known as a sickly child, but nevertheless he was very talented, and he played for wealthy aristocrats all over Europe. It has also been established that there was a major sickness spreading throughout Europe at the time of Mozart’s death, and because of this fact, this is the first reason I believe that Salieri never killed Mozart.

Many people suspect that Mozart and Salieri were bitter enemies. But this claim couldn’t be more wrong. In fact, Salieri greatly supported Mozart’s work and they were very close friends. Many people are led to believe that Salieri killed Mozart because years after Mozart’s death a play written by Alexander Pushkin called “Mozart and Salieri,” featured a zealous Salieri who poisons Mozart.” This play is unrealistic, and it is unfortunate that it led to the downfall of Antonio Salieri. As an older man suffering from several brain issues. These claims made him feel so guilty, he attempted suicide. Many people use this event as proof of Salieri’s guilt because he killed Mozart. Despite this, many historians believe this was due to Salieri’s illness. The basis of these allegations is based on mere rumors which started around the time of Mozart’s death. Mozart wrote to his wife saying he thought he was being poisoned, though it is unlikely that he was murdered by Salieri.

Unfortunately, Salieri’s compositions aren’t as famous as Mozart’s. It is also a tragedy that rumors of murder have left such a dark stain on the life of one of Europe’s most influential composers. Though it is a shame, no one can rewrite the history in which the foundation of modern society has been laid.
