I’m a mother, and I‘d like you to steal this letter to the president.

I am heartbroken, every day that I read more into what our border agencies are conducting in the name of America and her immigration policies.

Two-thousand children.

2,000

That is the equivalent of approximately 100 kindergarten classrooms or 166 soccer teams or 2,000 families, broken.

I could no longer do nothing today. Instead of tweeting or facebook-posting or just being all-around frustrated, I decided to write a letter. I’m sending this letter to the President, my Senators and Congressman, and the three departments involved in this inhumane policy: the US Department of Jusice, the Homeland Security Department, and the Department of Health and Human Services.

I encourage you to take this text and create your own letter/email/phonecall. Take ten minutes out of your day today and let your disappointment/disgust be heard. You can find the contact information below.

This is my letter. This is my voice. This is my attempt today to be heard. Please steal this text:

Dear <Insert Name from List of Officials>,

The policy of separating immigrant families is abhorrent and goes completely against what we stand for here in America. I do not support this policy and demand it be ended immediately.

We are the land of the free and home of the brave, but this policy shows our leaders to be cowards. Faced with the challenge of illegal immigration, they have resorted to ripping young children out of the arms of their parents. NOT IN MY NAME!

These families are desperately seeking a safer place to live. Using them as pawns in immigration law negotiations debases any remanence of America’s standing as the “Leader of the Free World”. This policy makes us monsters. NOT IN MY NAME!

Our taxpayer dollars are being used to keep these children incarcerated while their parents are deported back to the countries from which they came, making it increasingly difficult to be reunited. This is idiocy at its finest, with 2,000 young lives now caught up in the middle of it all. NOT IN MY NAME!

This policy is inhumane and immoral. I demand it be ceased and families be reunited immediately. Policies like this should be outlawed, and the officials who created or supported them should be removed from office. They are acting irresponsibly and neither in mine nor my country’s best interests.

Sincerely,
