Things You Forgot to be Thankful For

I’ve heard time and time again that grateful people are generally happier and more satisfied with their life. Thanksgiving is the perfect time to embody this philosophy, while you’re seated at a table filled with delicious food and surrounded by the ones you love. But we all know the holidays can also be filled with over cooked ham you’re forced to choke down, nosy great aunts who just love to remind you that you’ve been single for so long now, and usually there’s a crying child or two. So whether or not you’re feeling very grateful this Thanksgiving, I thought I’d compile a nice list to remind you of a few things you probably over look in your every day life that you might as well appreciate…

Things You Forgot to be Thankful For:

Infrastructure
You could literally not be where you are without it.

Selective Breeding
Because Labradoodles are adorable.

Multivitamins
What would we do without our daily dose of B12?

Asians
Pick your greatest talent, anything at all, and I guarantee I can find an Asian who can do it better.

Vaccine
Because I don’t have polio, and neither do you.

Facebook Statuses
Now you know exactly who not to talk politics with.

Wizards
Does this really need explanation?

Those Stick People Families on the Back of Mini Vans
I’m joking no one thinks it’s cute.

Public Transportation
At least it gets you there. Bonus! You can be extra thankful when no one sits next to you.

Google, Wikipedia, SparksNotes, Translator
Can we all just take a moment to praise modern technology and the fact that I graduated high school?

Ramen
Best 40 cents I’ve ever spent.

Cat Nip
What’s better than getting your cat stoned?

Buzzfeed
Extremely important when you have a paper due at midnight but would rather find out what flavor of ice cream you are.

People Who Actually Enjoy Jogging
You are absolutely fascinating. When I grow up I want to be you.

Sarcasm
Without which I could hardly have written this post.

Five Foot Long iPhone Cords
I can’t imagine my life without you.

Well, there you have it! Hopefully you found my list to be a helpful reminder this holiday season. I can promise you I’ll be thinking of it too when I’m dodging awkward personal questions and forcing a smile after the 80th time I’m gifted an ornament with my name on it. Happy Holidays!
