Although I agree that there is no such thing as total freedom (for with great freedom comes great responsibility), I disagree that “rebellion” against society “ends up exchanging one form of imprisonment for another.” Rebellions, peaceful or otherwise, have given a vast number of people much greater powers of self determination over the last several centuries.

On the micro level, there is a great difference between being in a respectful partnership and being in a hierarchical relationship.
