Ayn Rand’s brief conversation with Aristotle….
Edward Heidicker

Ayn Rand, September 15, 1964, photographer not known as yet

A perceptive and hysterical reply, Edward Heidicker, because I contemplated illustrating this piece with a photo of Ayn Rand, and I was, of course, alluding to Socrates’ quote from his trial, The unexamined life is not worth living, from Plato’s Apology.

My step-grandfather was a Rand devotee, giving me the opportunity to see the operation of Objectivism as applied to daily life. It got rather absurd: Gifts are buying affection; guests should pay for dinner at your home — no free rides!, etc.
