Ha! My first thought as well. After I looked it up, my second thought was, “And that’s a bad thing because …?” Should the virtuous person make themselves appear base? Hide their light under a bushel?

The irony, of course, is calling out “virtue signaling” is, in itself, a “virtue” (at least in their world view) signal to an audience with which the “caller” wishes to enhance their social standing. Pathetic, really.
