HO HO! At first I was going to write “woman’s right,” but I thought, “No, men deserve their dignity of dress just as much as women,” because the whole burkini question reminded me of being in Italy in 1980 on an archaeological dig. Our American team decided to take a weekend break at the beach. The Italian beachwear was considerably more revealing than we had brought with us from home. The American women were teased for wearing tank suits and, if wearing bikinis, told to take our tops off. The American men were mocked as “finocchio” (gay) for wearing swim trunks.

We were uncomfortable and shocked, but at least no one was telling us we had to wear less.

I appreciate the snark, and I realize if you have never been subject to a sexualized dress code it might seem trivial to you. I invite you to walk a mile in my high heels (oops, snark :)
