I understand your sentiment. I get quite angry at the co-opting of words as well, words that used to mean something quite different, such as “conservative.”
I don’t know where to start or how a less-than-influential individual can change the tide of events, but I think lessons can be taken from examples of how movements have re-purposed symbols and language.
I don’t know if you saw this article, but it is a wonderful history of how Yankee Doodle was originally a British Army song mocking Americans.
Way to own it, Continental Army!
