I, who once was an insecure, nerdy teenage girl, really enjoyed your story written from that perspective. I thought you did a terrific job.
I thought to myself while reading it (knowing, of course, that a man wrote it), “Hats off to Heath Houston for giving this a go. By imagining himself in that skin, he is obligating himself to empathize, and the world needs more of that. It doesn’t matter if he gets it exactly the way I experienced it. I am unique. His character is unique.”
I don’t know what other women readers thought. I would be curious to know.
