Don’t throw sand over my eyes. On the burkini ban and European cruelty

Thank you for writing this.

Sitting on the rocky coast of Maine (the one in the USA), I have been horrified to read about French municipalities demanding women adhere to a beach dress code, especially one some women consider immodest, under the guise of security concerns. The right not to be ogled is a human right.

I was unaware of CMNF porn (unsurprisingly, as I am unaware of most porn), but it clarifies a problem at my local YMCA. The Y pool is surrounded by a raised glass gallery from which clothed passersby are free to stare down at the swimmers. Many women, including myself, are uncomfortable with this situation and, therefore, do not swim. I joke that it was clearly designed by a man, but the truth is, it is no joke. As a female architect, I would never have designed a facility that creates a constant CMNF (I now have a name for it, thanks to you) experience.
