Hello humans, let me give a little intro about me

I’m Meghana, trying to get break into Software Workforce… I’m from Hyderabad, India…

I’m attending Hack Reactor Remote from August 21st… Wait what? you people must be thinking so what? That’s a legitimate question/ thought. So let me tell you what I’m trying to make/ trying to be.

I’m trying to share my experience of ‘reaching your dream career from a developing country’…

What was the goal?

hmm, let me say my place contains a lot if IT service based companies, the engineering colleges over the city makes sure their students are placed in one of the companies to market their respective colleges as ’98% placement rate’ and some crazy numbers…

The education system here became a big lucrative business here… very few are excited about teaching some thing over here.

So, here I’m when I was at very young age my life felt good, there is school. I’m getting good grades there. Wow Meghana, you are doing so well… keep it up, and if you try hard and get into IIT, then there is no looking back, your life will be set, this was said by many of the friends of my parents, some relatives blah blah.

So, I was kid and I thought yeah I love Math, Physics, Chemistry. Sure, why not? and decided to give it a try later only to fail miserably… There are many things went wrong over that Journey, And let’s discuss that in another blog post in future hopefully.

So there I’m very depressed and finally joined a local engineering college, keep it aside and as soon as I joined I quickly got an idea that this is not going to take me anywhere and here comes my another transition in life.

Although I realized I love coding, and don’t know where to start.

What’s the Transition? The Internet…

Internet

Yeah well, my father got our very first Samsung computer in my 12th class… god that’s the beautiful Machine I ever saw… because it belongs to me and my sister, it will stay in our house 24 hours. Loved it!

And to my surprise the Internet connection came along so that I can download and practice some question papers related to my IIT…

Absolutely no words, that’s very very super cool, love you dad for the very special gift. So, after a year into my college, I dived into Internet for what to do next??

Important Phase

So, Initially I was into tutorials, searching for online certification exams for languages like C, C++

It didn’t work out and after reading lots of quora I came to a cool life changing place, the website freeCodeCamp.

Yeah, freeCodeCamp is the place where I realized I had a strong Interest for coding, I love to see what my bits of code is doing in the screen right away…

Yeah, after a year into freeCodeCamp I wanted to become a full fledged software engineer, not junior level… let me clarify this, I have no issues with freeCodeCamp, it’s a wonderful resource for anyone to learn to code

So, quora is my friend right… through that I got to know about HACK REACTOR(advanced software Immersive boot camp), through which I can get my dream job after 0–6 months of graduation.

I’ll be writing the posts every week to record my journey and to keep track of what I learned during the process…

So, with that said, after getting my job as software engineer

  1. I’ll continue to mentor people and motivate to break into software.
  2. Make you people realize, there is some thing other than traditional education
  3. Hopefully conduct meetups, webinars, write posts to help people getting to start learn to code…

I’ll keep writing posts, and let you people part of my Journey…

That’s all for now, let me quickly say what all the learned this week…

Whoa… The Data Structures

  • Stacks
  • Queues
  • Linked Lists
  • Tree
  • Graphs
  • Set
  • Hash Table
  • Binary Search Tables
  • Recursion
  • Four Instantiation Patterns

With all that said, This week is very Intense and I’ll try to give brief Introduction to concepts I learned from next week onwards…

And yeah, this is my first published post, please feel free to give feedback, so that I can Improve… and will see you next week.

Let me end with my one the favourite quote

— Always Believe in Yourself

With that said, thanks for reading the post till end… and let me know your reaction in the comments.
