The lost girl

And when she lost the one she loved most, she fell in love with things that she could never touch.

She fell in love with her favorite memories that she could never give life to again.

She fell in love with the sky and the stars that kept her feeling like she’d have a chance.

She fell in love with music. All the songs that spoke her mind so clearly, but she was never one to sing.

She fell in love with reading poetry and the thoughts of others to remind her that she was not alone.

Not long after she fell in love with all these things that she thought could not hurt her, she realized she was wrong.

The memories of her loved one left her feeling empty.

The sky full of stars left her feeling small.

All the songs that she had listened to reminded her of all the songs she will never be sung to again.

All the poems she read gave flashbacks to all the ones she wrote about them.

She had tried so hard to move on.

She had tried so hard to fall in love with something else, only to result in more pain.

She had put everything she had into trying to move on.

She lost herself, after she lost the one she loved most.
