So I read this, another comment blaming “liberals” for making it all up, and I try to integrate it seriously into how I understand the situation. The only problem I have is that all the people now calling names against the newspapers willing to pursue this issue is that virtually none of them seem to know anything about Russia and its internal politics. I personally don’t hear any war-mongering (I thought that was the Republicans and Iran?), although maybe Clinton would have taken steps in that direction, as Glen Greenwald has been claiming. But Greenwald doesn’t seem to know anything about the internal political or business dynamics of Russia, either, and no one seems to be asking themselves questions anymore about possible business ties and possible bribes and possible influence on the American economy. Make the context bigger. It’ll make your head hurt more, yes, but the political opposition in Russia exists, and it is not a figment of the American Left’s imagination (they don’t understand it either, probably). Come on — look up Boris Nemtsov, Anna Politkovskaya, Pussy Riot for crying out loud. And then I’ll be interested to see how you explain all that. None of *that* has any connection to Trump, I assume, but you should include it in your reasoning process.
