Sit Down and Shut Up

If you have the opportunity to stand up for your opinions or the opinions of someone else, do it. I don’t care if it’s frightening, if you’re scared, or if you don’t know what to say. If you have the chance to stand up for something, to have your voice heard, do it. We all have opinions. Tea or coffee. Drama or comedy. Kindle or hardcover. Trump or Clinton. But you don’t get to share your opinion.

I know I contradict myself, I get it. But hear me out.

Don’t stand on a box and shout what you think to the world; no one wants to hear it. No one wants to hear your opinions unless you’re doing something to change the world.

I can’t complain that I’m cold if I’m not bundling up in layers, holding hot tea, and doing jumping jacks furiously to conduct my own heat.

And you can’t complain if you’re not going to change the world. If you’re angry about the mistreatment of animals, go vegan, adopt a dog, fight against animal cruelty; do something. If you want to help those who are suffering from abuse, start reaching out, donate to charities that are doing something, raise awareness; do something.

Your opinions matter. They’re important. They make you you and they give you the fire inside of your soul that pushes you to the next day.

Don’t lose your opinions, but don’t share them if you’re not willing to take steps to change them.

I love to hear your responses here and on Twitter!
