The idea of being a “put together” woman is something I have struggled with too. I’m a chronic nail biter due to anxiety, can’t really afford nice shoes/clothes/haircuts, and I’ve struggled with cystic acne my entire adult life too. Once, a dermatologist told me casually, “oh, you have what I call braille skin.” Anyway, while I don’t struggle with my femininity, I think the pressure to be put together is something women need to question, and ultimately dismantle. It’s just not real. Thanks for your article and honesty about PCOS.
