The Fabrics in the Closet
I haven’t updated my project blog in at least a month, but I have moved further with my senior project. I have…
- Communicated with my mentor
- Researched about quilting my t-shirts together
- Received the material for the quilt
I met with Debbie (my mentor) a week ago and we sorted through her fabrics. All the fabric she has is from her Mother in-law who passed away. There was a closet of huge Ziploc bags to be looked and picked through. Here’s a picture of the bags in the closet that we rummaged through (down below). I found many different patterns and colors of fabric that I thought were nice and would like in my quilt.

Our plan was to look through the fabrics pick out all the ones that I liked and thought I could use in the quilt. I would later lay the fabrics out on the floor and organize them to my liking; consisting of the t-shirts and found fabrics. After I figure out which ones to use we will wash them. Following that we plan to cut and measure the fabrics and start on the sewing aspect. I’m sure there are more steps in our plan, but this is the overall process.

Summary of Plan with Bullet Points:
- Look through bags
- Pick out liked ones
- Lay out fabric with t-shirts
- Wash ALL!
- Cut and measure
- Sew!
←This is my bag of fabrics I took home with me after our treasure hunt through the bags.
So far I’m highly enjoying my senior project and can’t wait to start piecing together the fabrics. I’m having trouble remembering to update this blog and having difficulty setting aside time to work on the project. I had planned to work on the sewing aspect over Thankgiving break, but my mentor and I both will be visiting another state and will be unable to work on it together. Returning from Thanksgiving break I hope to start on the project right away and get it finished by this semester.
Until the next post!
