What kind of place are you running here, Bub?

I stayed at the [name removed] Inn recently. Lovely place, it’s nothing like the picture above. However, the storage and laundry rooms are threadbare and shabby. I’m sure the owner knows I wasn’t supposed to see that.

Software is a lot like that. Users are supposed to look only at the nice UI and screens. They’re not supposed to see the source code behind, but in many cases they can.

Even if your patrons don’t happen to see behind the scenes, your people do. Then your people begin to have feelings about what kind of place you’re running.

So, what kind of place are you running? How’s it stack up against Uncle Bob’s Clean Code ideas? What impressions does it give to your patrons and developers?
