Si-o-se-pol bridge was made for connecting Abbas Chaharbagh Street to Chaharbagh Bala, Hezar Jib and Abbas Abad. this bridge is a place for Ab Pashan celebration or AbRezan(the ceremony that is annual in thirteenth of tir and organized with pouring water and rose water to each other)ceremony that was special for Armenians of Isfahan in the period of Safavieh and also it was a place for gathering of poets, elders, men, and other people.

Construction of the Si-o-se-pol building was proposed in 1008 Hijri and in the twelfth year of the reign of King Abbas and in 1011, Allah Verdy Khan Ondiladze Gorji was the Agent of finishing that. The poet in the period of Shah Abbas with the name of Sheykh Ali Naghi Komrei said the time of construction of the bridge in his poems in 1005 Hijri.
This bridge is known with the names of Shah Abbas, Jalfa bridge(because through that they could arrive in Jalfa that it was made recently), Chehel Cheshme bridge, Zayanderood bridge.

This bridge was always with admiration of scientists in the world, until that Persi Sayex, said that Si-o-se-pol is one of the best bridges in the world and Sharden said that it has the best Architecture.

About the bridge-building

Si-o-se-pol is about 300 meters long and 14 meters width, which is the longest bridge over the Zayandeh Rood.

It was built of brick and stone and you can see in two sides of that the ceiling thin passages, there are two sides walk that one of them is in up and another one is down that it’s a way for walking. The down passages are thin and it is between the central pillars of the bridge and near the River bed. Allah Verdi Khan bridge in past had 40 fountains that now just thirty-three springs of it remained and the other ones are Blocked.

Si-o-se-pol or Allah Verdi Khan is in the south end of the street or Enghelab street
