As much as Hamlet exhausted me, you make a really good point. I think the genius of Hamlet’s character was, as you said, his awareness of his failure to act. The darkness of his failures brings out the darkness in our own, such that whenever I had to read the play, I always felt that frustration and I hated it. Indecision is probably one of my worst flaws, so it’s annoying to have it reflected back to me. And theater is a mirror to reality, so… very annoying.
