With the release of the Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC, fans of the Borderlands series can’t help but wonder where the popular franchise will go next. There is currently no news as to a full sequel, but there are two more DLC releases to come for Borderlands 3. It seems the popular series is not over yet.

Rumors of a Battle Pass system came to naught, but could this be the future of Borderlands? Copying from major games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Destiny II could pave the way for a Borderlands game to stay in the spotlight permanently. With gripping storylines, awesome loot, and characters everyone loves, Borderlands 3 could be successful if it chose to transition into an ongoing game.

With no news yet of release dates for the third and fourth DLC packs, fans are left to speculate as they dive into the Lovecraft-inspired Guns, Love and Tentacles.

Borderlands’ future could also lie in spin-offs, another sequel, or even an expansion of its Science arcade game. As a Science student myself, I would certainly play a Borderlands Science game. With the number of explosives and wacky characters that make the franchise what it is, a Borderlands Science title would have mass appeal. As it stands, though, Borderlands Science is a block puzzle game found in Sanctuary III, but it’s themed around strands of DNA and microbes. I’d love to see this relate to body mods for your characters one day, though. Borderlands 3 has definitely missed a trick here, and I, for one, hope they take this idea further in the future.
