The internet is much bigger than we see it.

It is no surprise that the internet is much bigger than we see it. And I am not talking about the dark and deep web,I am talking about the regular internet that should be the same for everyone, but the government or our ISPs decided to limit it to us and restrict access to certain websites. This results that many countries have restricted access to the internet, especially countries like India, United Arab Emirates, China, Pakistan, Russia…

Gladly there are ways how to bypass these restrictions and enjoy open internet. There are paid ways as using a VPN, but it doesn’t sound fair that we should pay extra money to get the internet that should be the same for everyone, that is why we will discuss away how to bypass the restriction on the internet for free.

How To Access Blocked Sites in India, UEA, China and Other Countries Worldwide

In countries like India, UEA, Pakistan and many others thousands of websites are blocked, especially ones that have adult content like porn on them. These sites are not illegal or anything they just do not fit the social rules of the country.

There are ways how to access these blocked sites, and they all are the same for any country, it both works for any ISP that you have, for example you will be able to access blocked websites on JIO (which is one of the most popular ISP providers in India), these tips will show how to access blocked websites in Chrome or any other browser, how to access blocked websites on Android or iOS. Any device, any country, any browser can bypass restriction following the same ways.

How To Access Blocked Sites without Proxy and For Free

Using a proxy or a VPN is a one way how to bypass restrictions on the internet, but I found a free and much simpler way to do it — by simply changing your DNS address.

By changing your DNS you might be able to easily bypass the restrictions on the internet. DNS is basically a server that translates domain names into numerical IP numbers and then your ISP recognises what sites are you visiting and bans them. DNS changer simply changes you DNS and hides you from the ISP, government or any other third party.

There are few ways how you can change your DNS, you can do it manually or you can get a free DNS changing app.

Free DNS changing app

There are many free apps that can easily change your DNS server and help but I find TrustDNS the most trustworthy, easy to use and high quality.

TrustDNS doesn’t collect logs so nobody will know what pages you visit, they work with many sites, from Youtube to Wikipedia and many others. It is a free app that you can get on android devices. Check it out here or get the android app here. By simply one click you will be able to enjoy open internet and be secure.

Free VPN for accessing blocked websites

If the DNS changer doesn’t work on the site which is blocked and you want to access it. Or maybe it is a streaming platform like Netflix that you want to access (and free DNS changers won’t be able to do it, believe me) you can use a free VPN. Well it is not free exactly but it has 30 day money back guarantee, which basically you will need to pay for but you will get your money back after 30 days. And I am talking about Surfshark VPN, who are also the owners of the TrustDNS mentioned above. And if you do want to stick with a VPN after all, Surfshark supports an unlimited number of devices so you can share one account (and costs) with your friends or family.

How to Change The DNS Server Manually

For the following guides you can use Google public DNS servers and insert 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (IPv4), 2001:4860:4860::8888 and 2001:4860:4860::8844 (IPv6).

Windows 10:

  1. Go to control panel -> Network and Internet -> Network & Sharing Center. Or just simply search for “Network & Sharing Center” on Windows search bar.
  2. Press Change Adapter settings and a new pop up window will appear. Then right click on Wi-fi icon and then click on Properties.
  3. A new pop up window will appear after clicking properties. Then select Internet Protocol version (IPv4) and again click on Properties.
  4. Another pop up window will appear. Select Use the following DNS server addresses. Fill up the boxes names as the preferred DNS server and alternate DNS server and click OK. If any other IP address was already written in, change the one that was stated above (public Google dns IPv4).
  5. Repeat the same process as in step 3 and 4 but change the IPv6 DNS servers addresses.
  6. Click on OK, close and restart your computer.

macOS:

  1. Go to System Preferences.
  2. Click on the Network icon to find your connected Wi-fi and other networks. Select the Wi-Fi icon and click on Advanced at the bottom.
  3. A new window will open and on it click the DNS tab. Select the IP address already listed on the window. Change the IP address with the Public DNS server IP address.
  4. Click OK and Apply.

It should be our right and privilege to access all the internet has to offer, all of us, all countries on all devices. No discrimination. We know that the government or ISP while blocking something means no harm, but we should be the ones to decide what we want to watch and do online. So why not take back free and open internet by simply changing our DNS, right?
