Obviously, you love Boba tea, it’s basically impossible not to, right? But as you are walking through the shopping mall, you probably wonder how something that is essentially just a drink, can be quite as expensive as this tempting treat.

Well, if you don’t know what you are doing and you attempt to make this at home, you will in an instant realise why this stuff calls for a higher price tag… but, with a couple of simple skills, you’ll be ordering a chef’s hat from Ebay because of how proud you are of your creation. And guess what? In the end, it’s really not that hard to cook Sago/ Tapioca pearls.

When you bring home a bag of these dried things, you’ll know you got the right ones if the “English only” chunk of readers are unable to read the instructions… no I’m not joking, so unless you are from Taiwan, as your snack is, you’ll want some tips… that I most certainly did not have the first time I failed.. I mean attempted to make them.

What NOT to do.

Now, there are a couple of things to understand about these little confusing spheres. Are they fragile or idiot proof? Neither and both. To illustrate, I recommend dropping a few on your kitchen floor so that you can see how important it is to handle the packet with care… this is obviously only done by highly co-ordinated people.
