Man cremated before wake, parents in distress

Parents, Jorge Alberto Hernandez and Mirna Amaya, of the late Jorge Geovanny Hernandez, filed a lawsuit against the Los Angeles County coroner’s office for alleged misconduct and negligence.
According to the lawsuit, the parents are in emotional stress because although they did plan to cremate Hernandez, they intended to hold a wake for Jorge. However, Jorge was cremated before that. A forensic official apologized to the parents and explained the ordeal was due to a technician not verifying the identification number that carried the body.
The day that the man was cremated, two other corpses in the morgue were under the same name.
