Why you should dress to impress

We’ve all been there. We run out of the house in sweat pants and a dishevelled bun to go to the grocery store and then it happens. You run into your ex/potential beau /maybe-future-boss/person you are trying to impress. And needless to say that in your I-don’t-give-a-crap-about-how-I-look state, you didn’t. Throughout the years, I’ve learned two things (well more than just two, but two that apply to this post). 1) Appearances matter (even if you don’t want to believe they do), and 2) you’ll always run into someone you want to impress on the days you look like crap (it’s Murphy’s law). Which brings me to the point of this post, the importance of looking fab all the time.

I know what you’re about to say, and I don’t mean throwing on your ball gown to go pick up milk. I just mean taking the extra 10 minutes to make yourself look beautiful and presentable whenever you are leaving the house. Don’t worry, I have good reasons for this too.

When you look great, you feel great
Notice that whenever you put on that special lipstick or your favourite shoes, you feel a little sexier, stand a little straighter and walk with that little strut? How you look affects how you feel about yourself. And when your self-esteem and confidence goes up, people notice and positivity is all around you.

Society demands it
Like it or not, we live in a society where we are judged by our appearance. It sucks, but it’s the unfortunate truth. When your nails are chewed to the bone, you haven’t showered and you’re wearing the same clothes you just slept in, people obviously won’t get great impression from you. But if you have clean polished nails , your hair is swept up in a cute updo ad you’re wearing your comfy casual outfit that also makes you feel fantastic, people ill pick up on that. And that’s a good thing.

You’ll always run into the last person you want to see on THE day you don’t make an effort
Avoid the awkward moment when you run into the person you would love to impress most, but can’t because you’re wearing your saggy bottom sweat pants with “Juicy” written across your bottom. What’s more satisfying than looking fabulous when running into… well, anyone!

For these reasons, I’ve compiled a showcase of fabulous looks that are effortlessly chic. Notice that no matter if these fashionable gals are dressed up or down, they always look polished.

Notice that all it takes is an eye-catching item like a floral blazer, a pop of colour, a pair of cute heels or a good quality bag. It’s that easy and it,s a little effort that will take you a long way.
