Birth of A Nation’s Box Office Flop and The Unrepentant Pettiness of Black Feminists.

This article is *terrible*.

Let’s set aside the crappy definition of black feminism for now.

You think black women are being *petty* because they — along with a bunch of other people — are offended that Parker 1) denigrated an entire group of people in problematic ways and 2) was implicated in the rape of a woman?

“Petty” is defined as “of lesser importance; trivial”; when someone is called “petty,” the implication is that they are sweating the small stuff, worrying about things that are trivial. Are you saying that homophobia is trivial? That being involved in the rape of a woman is trivial?

I think those things matter. And I think it’s sad that you think they don’t.
