100hkd and under in Peng Chau

On Mid-week public holidays in Hk, most people like to take the ferry to outlying islands and enjoy the scenic countryside that is usually absent in the teeming metropolis of the city. Today, we did the same, and took the 45 minute slow boat to Peng Chau.

Once we reached the small island, we decided to stop for dim sum at Peng Chau Good Lucky Restaurant 坪洲好運酒樓.
This was the smallest dim sum restaurant we had ever been to. A total of 6 small tables, with a kitchen in the back and a woman bringing out trolleys of bamboo steamers and calling out her wares.

We had old fashioned chau xio bao — BBQ pork bun, cilantro, peanut, pork mince dumplings, shanghai xiao long baos, spare rib on soy sauce rice, and beef meatballs. Also the best jasmine tea I’ve ever had in Hk. Afterwards we rented bicycles and rode around the island.

Total: 72 hkd.
36 hkd per person.
