I agree that they should either stand but with amended historical plaques, or be moved to a more appropriate location such as a museum or cemetery. I don’t want the PC police to get carried away which Trump suggested, but it has started with the removal of Robert Lee from announcing UVA football games, despite the fact that he’s Asian. That’s just wrong. While Nat Turner has a place in history, he wouldn’t be my first choice.

I wasn’t born and raised in the south but have lived in the south for 40 years now. If you don’t live here I think it’s hard for people to understand that they are still fighting the war. As a white person it was a moment of being “woke” that these statues were offensive. I just never paid attention to them or what they stood for. I’m now doing more reading and research. Just the other day I was reading someone’s comment that slaves in Charleston were treated better and I thought is that like being only slightly dead? Dead is dead and a slave is a slave, but it perfectly illustrates the gap in knowledge and history
