Thank you for being open and honest about your battle. While I’ve never experienced being bi polar I’ve had two revelations that helped me understand. The first was my friend in high school who attempted suicide twice. While visiting him in the hospital I asked what made him want to die. He said the depression is so bad he doesn’t see things getting any better. The second was watching the morning news/talk shows and Pastor Rick Warrens son had committed suicide. He had battled depression for years and various treatments hadn’t worked. He said to his father, “Why can’t I just die and end this pain.” That ended my thought of what a selfish act suicide is. We wouldn’t wish a cancer patient to keep suffering so why should the mental torture in some cases be endured? More people need to be educated and the stigma removed and hopefully medical advances to relieve the pain.
