Judy Sheindlin, famously known as “Judge Judy”, has reemerged in the public consciousness as a result of her “new” series, Judy Justice, which is basically the same show as her wildly successful 25-year old predecessor. This, of course, is no surprise, because while the series which streams on the Amazon-owned IMDB TV’s free streaming service has received some criticism for its lack of originality, there was never any intent on Sheindlin’s part to undergo a creative effort, rather it was the result of a dispute between Sheindlin and CBS that ultimately led to her pursuit to start anew on a different platform.

Therefore, the show’s new format is expected, although there have been some slight changes, such as the inclusion of a stenographer, Sheindlin’s granddaughter as a law clerk, and most controversially, a new bailiff who replaced beloved Petri-Hawkins Byrd from the original program. Byrd’s claim that he had been slighted by Sheindlin and was never informed about the new show or given a chance to audition, supposedly because his salary would be too high, was by far the most talked-about drama surrounding Judy Justice and led to many fans declaring that they would boycott watching the new series.
