Cloud Computing is the practice of using a network of servers hosted on the internet to store,manage and process data,rather than a local server or a personal computer.

How Cloud Computing Works?

In a Organisation there are various Workstations,each of these Workstations are connected to servers.

The Function of a server is to store,retrieve and send computer files and data to other computers on a network.

There are various kinds of servers like file server,web server,print server,netwrok server,etc.

These servers have very large storage capacity and faster computing speed.They require appropriate conditions for their working.Organisations have a huge amount of data stored in these servers as a result of which their security is of utmost importance.There are high chances of Hacking and various forms of data losses,hence the company has to appoint a team to ensure the security and proper functioning of these servers.

Now companies like Amazon,Oracle(third party cloud service provider) have servers set up in various datacentres across the globe and provide the companies with computing resources like servers and storage over the Internet.

Public Cloud:

With a public cloud, all hardware, software and other supporting infrastructure is owned by the cloud provider.The organisation only needs to provide the cloud provider with their requirements i.e. the amount of storage space required,processing speed,etc.One can access these services and manage their account using a web browser.

Private Cloud:

A private cloud can be physically located on the company’s on-site datacenter.Some companies also pay third-party service providers to host their private cloud.A private cloud is one in which the services and infrastructure are maintained on a private network.

Software as a service(SAAS):

If an organisation is in need of a particular software, the cloud providers are ready to the needful.The cloud providers own the license to various softwares and provide the organisation with the required software application and also handle any maintenance like software upgrades, securities,etc.

Advantages of Cloud:

1.Cost: Cloud Computing eliminates the expense of buying hardware and software and setting up and running on-site datacentres.

2.Speed:Vast amounts of computing resources can be provisioned in minutes thus giving businesses a lot of flexibility.

3.Reliability: On-site datcentres are set up by the organisation itself and incase of data breach the company will incur tremendous losses,and to avoid such mishaps the organisation appoints a team to look after the datacentres.All this can be avoided by using cloud computing which ensures 98% data security.Also a Non-Disclosure agreement(NDA) is signed to ensure that there isn’t any tampering with the organisation’s confidential information.

Cloud Computing enables the organisations to handle the data in an effective way.
