That sums it up for me. It takes more energy to nag my son to do something than to do it myself. Right now, he has basic “chores” such as picking up after himself and giving the family pet food and water occasionally. But he’s only six. The more “independent” tasks, I think, should be left for when they get older or mentally capable (such as doing their own laundry when the pre-teen/teen years hit so they know how to do it themselves). Generally, though, I think rigorous outdoor chores are probably more often left in the dust due to an increase in technology and city living, rather than stressed out parents.
