Through adversity, we thrive.

Life, in general, is meant to be fun and exciting but as those carefree teenage years slide past us, we enter the realm of responsibilities and mishaps that we’ve never seen before but in order to catch the Rhythm and Vibes in life, everyone has that phase of adversity and it feels like that horrible tune the DJ drops in the club to ruin the mood but however two shots in and a banger of a tune later we are back on the good vibes aren’t we? That horrible tune is like the adversities we face in life, makes us take a moment to slow things down but like the banger of a tune it always gets better afterward, that’s the beauty of it. I may sound too optimistic at this point but crack open a cold one buddy, I’m just getting started.

I’ve always been fond of the idea that every phase of life has its own trouble and tribulation. When I was 5 my biggest obstacle in life was figuring out whether I was my family's favorite child and 17 years later it’s safe to say, I am. Sorry Michelle, sucks to be second. But you get my drift, the troubles of the past do not make any sense in the present and that’s amazing to me, whatever you're going through at this moment is meant to build you through the next phase of life and as the world around us keeps evolving, so should you.

Life was never meant to be just rainbow’s and butterflies but we hold onto that thought of living that free-flowing and stress-free life throughout our time. Every chapter brings in new lessons, new people, and new experiences and you won’t enjoy it all but hey, ‘no pressure no diamonds’ baby. Pressure energizes and motivates us to perform and achieve at a higher level.

The education system in Lanka never taught us the importance of emotional intelligence and the process of personal development but the adversities of life take the role of being the greatest teacher and when we slow it down to reflect upon the bad, there's always a good that you would find.

Covid has been the biggest adversity my generation has seen and as numbers turn into names we know and the cities go into lockdowns, it all comes down to a matter of a second between life and death. The wealth, the connections, and the fame all fade away when you are stuck in isolation gasping for air, and life’s played its old trick on you again, humbling you down and making you appreciate the little things in life.

Every generation goes through that period of pain, our great grandparents lived through the world war, our parents lived through the 83'riots and the civil war in our country and here we are fighting a common enemy that we can’t see but there's one thing common in all these situations and that's Hope for a better future.

I grew up listening and reading up on the great adversities that have come before my time and I have realized that the human race has always found a way to survive and get through it all. Through adversity, we thrive and as the world is filled with negativity and anxiety, I hope this blog sits as a reminder that we are gonna get through this phase together and hopefully catch a Rhythm and Vibe sooner or later.

Stay Safe. Stay Home. Stay Strong.

Till I catch you on the next one, Peace and love.
