Early Career (The Start of Miss Locker bags)
The summer before my freshman year at Parsons, there was this “Design Your Own Tote Bag” competition hosted by Coach Hong Kong, and I won 5,000 RMB, so I started my own company to produce my first collection of canvas tote bags. And that’s how I got into making teen girl bags.
Right now I’m still a bag designer for teen girls, my brand is called “Miss Locker”, because a bag is like a girl’s mini-locker to put her personal things in and that’s how I chose the name.
Mengdi’s designs are featured in Teen Vogue, InStyle, China Daily, CBS News, Yahoo News, People’s Daily, Cosmopolitan China and more. She is also the youngest designer ever to be nominated for InStyle’s Independent Handbag Designer Awards.
