Today we are launching the beta branch for Castro. Beta is completely independent and is available as a standalone application on Google Play. All you need is to join this group, and then download the application from this link.

How it works

We are starting from 1.4.0 build 1, which already has a lot of differences with the original application. We plan to update this thread every 2 weeks, and to add new functions and new information. Also, we will provide a full list of changes for each build.

The differences between branches

  • The beta uses a slightly revised system of information gathering. It works faster and is able to send reports on the empty fields and small mistakes automatically.
New feedback window
  • The feedback window was completely revised, it has become easier to use and requires less actions to describe the problem.
New changelog window
  • Information about donation was removed. If you want to support development, then you should use the original application.

1.4.0 Build 1 Changelog

  • We’ve added a whole new window to display a list of changes for each version and build. This especially actual for the beta branch.
  • Completely redesigned Navigation Drawer (again). Now it has bigger performance and become more beautiful. We also have elimiminated all the bugs associated with it.
  • Updated a lot of icons in the whole program
  • Added much new information in Device (SIM Serial Number, Google Services Key, Density size, Fingerprint and Bootloader), in Memory (full information about Swap) and in CPU (Insturction set) categories.
  • Almost twice reduced the size of the application (From 10 MB to 6 MB)

What’s next

We can already tell that we are going to add in version 1.4.0.

First of all the new information: completely new algorithm for calculation CPU usage will be added (now the information will be calculated for each core), information about CPU temperature, sensors information and much more.

Also, we are already working hard to support customization with themes. Most likely you will be able to choose the main theme (light and dark) and color scheme.

The last big part of it: adding widgets. Soft part is already ready for the battery widget, but design isn’t ready yet. It might be added widget with information about the CPU.

That’s all for today. Stay tuned for beta updates!
